The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, has acknowledged the contributions of the security agencies towards the maintenance of peace as well as protection of lives and property of the citizens in the state. This, he said, has reduced crime and attracted investors to the state.

The Governor spoke at the End-of-Year Get Together organised at the Police Officers Mess, Uyo, by the Nigeria Police Force, Akwa Ibom State Command.

Governor Emmanuel particularly commended the Police Commissioner, Mr. Murktar Manni, and officers of the command for their vigilance and dogged surveillance that has kept criminality at near zero level in the state.

Stressing that every government is anchored on security in order to guarantee the safety of its citizens, Mr. Emmanuel expressed appreciation to officers and men of the command for their dedication to their responsibilities. He noted that they have gallantly performed their duties without compromise even in the face of mounting challenges.

The Governor described the police as partners in the development of the state. He assured them of increased collaboration to enable the force keep criminality at bay and urged them not to relent in their efforts but strive harder to ensure that the near-crime free situation currently experienced in the state is sustained.

Earlier, the State Police Commissioner had attributed the feat attained in combating crime in the state to the support given to the Force by the present administration. He expressed appreciation for the support, stating that the get-together was an avenue for officers and men of the State Police Force to interact in a lighter mood and brace up to face the challenges of the profession.

Compol Manni thanked God for the safe keep of the officers and men in their various operations and assured that their welfare remains a priority of the Command.
