The Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Engineer Saleh Dunoma, says that the Katsina Airport Terminal will soon be commissioned.
Speaking at the airport while inspecting the facility, Mr Dunoma said that work at the terminal had been completed.
He noted that FAAN would continue to prioritise safety and security in line with international best practices.
The FAAN boss revealed that the authority was presently putting finishing touches for final takeover of the new terminal.
He stressed the strategic importance and relevance of the airport as an alternate airdrome to key airports in the northern part of Nigeria.
Mr Dunoma added that the terminal would add substantial value to the revenue generation drive of the organisation through annual hajj operations.
The Katsina Airport Manager, Mr Bello Giyade, received the FAAN boss and led the inspection of the arrival and departure halls, scanning machines, conveyor belts and other facilities.
The team of experts who accompanied the Managing Director included the General Manager Electrical, Nurudeen Daura; the General Manager Procurement, Niger Temlong, as well as the Regional General Manager North, Zakari Mahmud, among others.
The airport, constructed in 1991, was being operated as airstrip before being upgraded to carry out standard operations. (Channels TV)
