A new executive has been elected to work with the President of the Nigeria Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), Mrs. Agharase Arase, wife of Inspector General of Police, IGP Solomon Arase. The emergence of the new executive was one of the highlights of a two day convention held on Wednesday and Thursday at POWA National Secretariat, Hera Okiro House, Asokoro FCT Abuja.
The new POWA officials, whose election followed the expiration of two years tenure of the outgoing executives, are Esther Orobosa Etim, National Secretary; Zainab Hamisu, National Assistant Secretary; Bukola Towuru, Publicity Secretary; Bahago Ahmed Hauwa, Treasurer; and Veronica Ogochi, Financial Secretary.
Speaking during the convention, Mrs. Arase pledged that her administration will work with the new executives to ensure that welfare of officer’s wives is improved on, and to develop children within the police community through counseling, skill acquisition and economic empowerment.
The annual convention, which had over 300 POWA members in attendance, also featured discussions on security awareness during which members were admonished on the need to be conscious of their environment considering the prevailing security situation in the country.
