Akwa Ibomites score Gov. Emmanuel’s first 100 days in office

A cross section of Akwa Ibom State indigenes and groups, have continued to appraise the Governor Udom Emmanuel’s-led administration in its 100 days in office as the state governor, describing it as “focused, purposeful and determined.”

Many of the state indigenes, who spoke in an interview, expressed confidence that the administration’s leadership would guarantee progress in the sustaining democracy, as well as carving out the needed socio-economic road map for meaningful development in Akwa Ibom.

A former chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission (AKIISEC), Dr. Iniobong Adiakpan stated that “the Udom Emmanuel administration in its last 100 days, has taken impressive steps to put Akwa Ibom on the front page map” of progressive states in the country

Dr. Adiakpan, an educationist, stressed that “the traits of the state’s leadership, reflected no iota of ethnicity in the appointments made into key positions so far” and she called on her womenfolk to stand by the Udom’s administration for sustained development in the state.

In his appraisal of the administration’s 100 days, the state commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr. Monday Uko, noted that “the attainment of the Gov. Emmanuel’s administration in industrialisation and the overseas training of the Akwa Ibom youths, are directions for greater sustainable development.”

Mr. Uko, enjoined the people of the state to grant the administration the needed support, describing the 100 days journey of the administration so far as “focus-driven with positive rewards.”

The special adviser, Bureau of Labour and Productivity, Mr. Enyinna Ekpenyong, observed that the process of managing to steer the ship of the state in the past 100 days showed the extent of efficiency in public administration by the leadership.

Mr. Ekpenyong added that “despite the acute paucity of funds,” the administration had openly made marks of ingenuity, as he also prayed that God should abide in the leadership to continue in the onerous task ahead.

An organisation, Akwa Ibom Patriotic Network (APN), stated that the passion and commitment of Gov. Udom Emmanuel to his industrialisation agenda had started yielding results, with the reactivation of Peacock Paints Industry in Etinan LGA.

Addressing an enlarged caucus of the group in Uyo on the governor’s 100 days, its international president and transition caretaker committee chairman of Ika LGA, Mr. MacDonald Marcus, said the group supported the emergence of the governor “because members knew that he was the right man for the top job.”

“In just 100 days in office, the governor has demonstrated clearly that his industrialisation programme was not a mere campaign talk, meant to garner votes, but a promise to be fulfilled”. Marcus recalled.

Also scoring the governor, the APN chapter coordinator for Etinan LGA, Mr. Emmanuel Titus, said “the governor represents the hope of a new Akwa Ibom State,” adding that the state chief executive had demonstrated so far that he was not playing politics with his industrialisation agenda.

The organisation, passed a vote of confidence on Gov. Udom’s administration.

News Expressrecalls that Gov. Udom Emmanuel, in marking the event last Saturday, September 5, 2015, had described his 100 days in office as “a proud start towards fulfilling the cardinal promise of industrialising Akwa Ibom.”
