Boko Haram kills 14 in Borno market

At least 14 people have died in an evening attack in Monguno local council of Borno State, North-East Nigeria. They were killed yesterday by explosives that ripped through the local market.

Monguno is one of the towns overrun by Boko Haram early this year and most of its inhabitants now live in Maiduguri. The insurgents are believed to be responsible for the latest deadly attack.

The attack came at a time when some locals had started returning to their homes.

Barely 24 hours earlier, two soldiers and a policeman were killed by a landmine along Damboa road, about 35 kilometres away from the capital city, Maiduguri.
