Lawyers to Nigerian musician Tochukwu Gubemi Ojogwu, popularly known as OdumoduBlvck, have petitioned the Lagos State Police Command over an alleged attempt by police officers to arrest the musician at about 3:00am on August 29, 2026.

The petition, dated August 31, 2026, was written by Marshal Attorneys and addressed to the Assistant Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department, Lagos State Police Command.

The lawyers alleged that officers of the Nigeria Police Force arrived at the musician’s location in the early hours of August 29 with an invitation letter purportedly issued by the Lagos State Police Command.

According to the legal team, the alleged arrest attempt occurred despite their earlier response to a police invitation issued to their client and the fact that the Inspector General of Police’s office was already handling the matter through its Monitoring Unit.

The lawyers also raised concerns over the continuation of the police investigation, saying a related matter was already pending before an Abuja Magistrate Court.

They argued that the existence of the court case should be taken into consideration in determining whether the police should continue with a separate investigation into the same matter.

The lawyers said, “On the 29th of August, 2026 at about 3:00am, officers of the Nigerian Police Force purportedly acting on your Command swooped on our Client with an invitation letter purportedly issued by your good self.”

They further alleged that the officers’ action came despite an earlier denial by one of their lawyers that the invitation letter had been authored by the person purportedly named as its issuer.

The legal team urged the Assistant Commissioner of Police to investigate the circumstances surrounding what they described as the alleged action against their client.

“We request that you cause an urgent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the actions complained of herein,” the lawyers stated.

The lawyers also called on the Lagos State Police Command to defer to the office of the Inspector General of Police, which they said was already handling the matter through its Monitoring Unit.

They emphasised that their petition was aimed at clarifying the circumstances surrounding the alleged early-morning attempt to arrest the musician and ensuring that the appropriate authorities handled the matter (ARISE NEWS)
