FRSC returns dead accident victim’s money to wife

Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) RS 1.15 Sabon Tasha Unit Command has returned huge sum of money recovered from an accident death victim to his wife in Kaduna State, North-West Nigeria.

The agency gave the victim’s name as late Mufutau Alao Salami, calling on motorists to avoid reckless driving in order to save lives.

FRSC Commander, ACC Muhammad Ogoshi, said it was the culture of the corps to return anything found with accident victim to his or her family.

He said FRSC personnel do not tamper with accident victims property.

Ogoshi explained that the victim overloaded with cottons of beer from Airforce Mammy Market to beer depot in Sabo Tasha along new Kaduna road when the accident occurred and that he died on the spot before FRSC operatives arrived the scene to rescue him.

“We recovered N419,290 and other properties and handed them over to the relatives of the deceased. It is the culture of FRSC, we don’t play with accident properties and money. We are very conscious of that. We don’t receive bribe too,” he said.

The deceased wife, Mrs Binta Omowumi Salami, received the money and properties on behalf of her family. She commended the FRSC for their patriotism, honesty in handling accident victims’ belongings.

She urged other security agencies to emulate FRSC to end corruption facing some security agencies in the country.
