Hausa Community in Akwa Ibom congratulates Buhari, Emmanuel over elections victory

The Hausa Community in Akwa Ibom State has congratulated the victorious Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) and Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel at the recently-concluded presidential and governorship elections, which it described as “historic.”

Members of the Community, who met at their administrative settlement on Udi Street in Uyo, after their Friday prayer session, expressed their “gratitude to God for guiding the conduct of the general elections in Nigeria and Akwa Ibom State to a safe and peaceful end.”

The community also expressed appreciation to “the good and accommodating people of Akwa Ibom State, for conducting themselves peacefully and orderly before, during and after the elections”, saying that “the state had scored another great point in keeping with her traditional display of peaceful, friendly and accommodating nature.”

Speaking through its leader, Alhaji Hassan Sadauki, the community said the outcome of the elections in the country was, “a significant turning point for Nigeria and Akwa Ibom”, and congratulated the duo of Buhari and Udom on their electoral victory.

“We, the Hausas, resident in here in Akwa Ibom State, are happy to felicitate with both the president-elect, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) and the State Governor-elect, Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, for emerging victorious in the just-concluded general elections.” the community maintained.

They called on the losers in the Akwa Ibom State governorship election to “show the magnanimity exhibited by the incumbent President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, as he accepted the defeat in good faith and eventually congratulated his closest rival at the polls, Buhari.”

The community equally urged the losers in the elections who felt aggrieved to employ legal means to seek redress, if they feel otherwise, “instead of resorting to uncanny behaviors”, and should “also stop unguarded utterances that could lead to bad blood and blood shed”, stressing that the emergence of Udom Emmanuel as the state governor-elect, was “a divine victory for the entire state.”

They emphasised that “Udom, the Governor-elect, is coming to continue with the good work of Governor Godswill Akpabio, whom today we are living witnesses as the undisputed icon of uncommon transformation in the entire country, and there is no doubt about that”, and called for continued prayers for Buhari and Udom, to enable them to lead the country and the state aright, while urging the Hausas in the state to remain law abiding.
