Governor Obaseki
Controversy is trailing the recent endorsement of Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State for a second term by leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in his Oredo local government area as some members of the party yesterday alleged that the said endorsement was not part of the agenda in the meeting they held on Sunday, March 31.
But a leader of the party in Edo North, Senator Domingo Obende lauded the action of the party members in Oredo saying that with the performance in the last two years “There is no vacancy in Osadebey Avenue and to whom much is given much is expected. Governor Godwin Obaseki has given his all to us and I believe that is not the finality of his capacity. The only good thing that can happen to us in Edo State is for him to come back for the second term so that he can download all his investment experiences and the opportunities so that Edo State can be better for it.”
A leader of the party who was in the said meeting told Vanguard yesterday that “It was an embarrassment to me when I saw my name. The issue of endorsement for second term for Obaseki was not on the agenda and when it was even raised, nobody seconded the motion. I am surprised at what I saw. The so-called names they pasted was the list of attendants in the meeting and not those who purportedly endorsed the second term agenda.”
