•Ndi-ABAT warns: Tinubu needs strategic partners, not political distractions ahead of 2027

The NdIgbo for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu 2027 Forum (NDI-ABAT) has issued a strong warning to the APC Governors Forum to immediately review its political strategies ahead of the 2027 presidential election, cautioning that outdated, restrictive, and confrontational approaches against opposition figures could undermine the broader objective of securing a decisive victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

NDI-ABAT in a statement jointly signed by the National Coordinator, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, and Secretary General, Dr. Ugwuoke Ugwuoke Jr., specifically described the reported political restrictions involving Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia and Mr. Peter Obi as a counterproductive move capable of creating unnecessary public sympathy for opposition figures while diverting attention from the achievements and policy successes of President Tinubu’s administration.

NDI-ABAT maintained that modern democracy is not won through political restrictions or attempts to limit the activities of opponents but through superior performance, effective communication, credible leadership, and direct engagement with citizens.

The forum warned the APC Governors Forum that any strategy built around suppressing political opponents rather than promoting government achievements represents a weak political approach that could produce the opposite of its intended outcome.

According to NDI-ABAT, history has repeatedly demonstrated that unnecessary political confrontations often transform ordinary political opponents into symbols of sympathy and public attention.

The organization therefore urged APC leaders to concentrate on presenting the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, including infrastructure development, economic reforms, institutional reforms, and policies designed to improve the living conditions of Nigerians.

NDI-ABAT warned the APC Governors Forum that the 2027 presidential election requires strategic planning, political discipline, and responsible leadership, not actions capable of generating avoidable controversies.

The forum stated clearly that:

“The APC Governors Forum must understand that President Tinubu requires strategic partners who can strengthen his message, communicate his achievements, and build confidence among Nigerians — not political actors whose actions create unnecessary distractions and complications.”

NDI-ABAT advised APC governors and political leaders to recognize that electoral success will come from expanding public support, deepening citizens’ trust, and demonstrating measurable achievements rather than engaging in tactics that could weaken the party’s political advantage.

NDI-ABAT reaffirmed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s greatest political asset remains his record of governance and developmental projects across Nigeria.

The organization stated that the President’s infrastructural interventions, economic policies, and commitment to national development provide sufficient evidence for Nigerians to assess his administration ahead of the 2027 election.

NDI-ABAT emphasized that the focus of the APC political family should be on showcasing these achievements, especially the administration’s projects and policies impacting the Southeast and the aspirations of the Igbo people.

The forum stressed that successful political campaigns require effective communication, capable leadership, and individuals who understand the importance of winning public confidence through persuasion and positive engagement.

NDI-ABAT stated that President Tinubu’s 2027 victory will be strengthened by political structures that unite Nigerians, promote development achievements, and build bridges across regions.

The organization cautioned that political liabilities, unnecessary controversies, and poorly calculated strategies must not be allowed to undermine the collective efforts of those working to secure President Tinubu’s re-election.

NDI-ABAT reiterated its commitment to supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 presidential campaign by promoting his administration’s achievements, highlighting his infrastructural revolution, and communicating his policies and programmes that positively affect Nigerians, particularly in the Southeast.

The forum called on all supporters of the President to embrace responsible politics, strategic communication, and a forward-looking approach capable of delivering a historic electoral victory in 2027.
