The explosion which rocked parts of Kano this night came from a bomb, police authorities in the state have confirmed.
Speaking with News Express minutes ago, Kano State Police Commissioner, Ibrahim Idris, said the explosion was as a result of a bomb thrown by unknown person(s). He expressed relief that no casualty was recorded in the blast.
The bomb exploded in a ditch near a cool spot in Agangara, Badawa, in Nasarawa GRA, Kano.
An eye witness, Idris Shafiu, who spoke with News Express, said the incident occurred around 7:45 p.m.
His words: “The Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was dumped inside a ditch near the busy cool spot in Agangara.
“We just heard a loud bang and everybody started scampering for safety.
“We thank God that no life was lost, even though some of us sustained bruises as we tried to run for safety.”
Normalcy is reported to have returned in the area following the swift response of security operatives, who have cordoned off the vicinity of the blast.
The blast occurred just a day after two suicide bombers successfully attacked the Kano offices of telecom giants, MTN and Airtel.
No group has claimed responsibility although fingers have pointed at the direction of Boko Haram.
