The leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has asked called for the replacement of security chiefs who have overstayed their welcome.
CAN President, Reverend Samson Ayokunle, made the call during a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday at the State House in Abuja.
He also asked the Federal Government to put necessary measures in place to ensure that the general elections were conducted peacefully.
Reverend Ayokunle urged the President to probe the killings in the country and direct the security agencies to be nonpartisan during the elections.
He stressed the need for the government to respect the rule of law and release the leader of the Shiite group, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, and others who have been granted bail by various courts.
The other demands made by CAN included directing the Army to stop using live bullets in quelling civil disturbances and an order to the Police to provide protection to any group of people engaging in peaceful protest as the law and modern-day democracy allow.
An urgent resolution of the controversies on the ongoing dialogue over the new minimum wage.
