Governor Okowa
An Ijaw community leader in Delta State, Thompson Abideke has called on electorate in the state to cast their votes for incumbent Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for his integrity and determination to transform the state.
Abideke who is also a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said true democracy has been restored because men of integrity are now coming on board to contest for political office in order to ensure prosperity for all and sundry.
“I plead with the people of the state to vote massively in the forthcoming election that will further enhance true democracy devoid of rancour and bitterness. Above all, am appealing specially to the people of Delta South senatorial district to close rank and vote for a man of integrity that is doing so much for the people of the area,” he said.
He enumerated the achievements of Okowa as governor in the past three years to include road construction and rehabilitation, empowerment of jobless youths, construction of overhead bridges both in urban and rural areas among others.
“As a man from the riverine area, I can attest to the fact that Okowa has done a lot to alleviate the sufferings of the riverine communities both Ijaw and Itsekiri. He has also provided job opportunities to teachers and introduce a lot of initiatives presently been enjoyed by the people,” he said, insisting that the governor should be allowed to complete what he has started since the past three years.
While appreciating the concerted effort of the majority of various ethnic groups who are supporting the governor, he maintained that no good and workaholic coach will change a winning team.
“Other political parties should know that Delta belong to PDP and there is nothing that can change that position for a long time to come. My candid advice to our people is that they should follow the winning team because PDP will continue to rule the state and central,” the Ijaw leader said.
