Akwa Ibom Information and Strategy Commissioner, Charles Udoh
The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Akwa Ibom State, Mr Charles Udoh, has said that Governor Udom Emmanuel is not interested in embarking on projects that will end up as drain pipe of state funds.
Udoh made this assertion while fielding questions during an exclusive interview on Friday with News Express at Uyo, capital of Akwa Ibom State.
He said his principal, since he assumed office a little over three years ago, has successfully embarked on projects that stand out for all to see, a fact which he said has earned the governor numerous recognition and respect across the country.
“For every person who has followed events, activities and programmes of the government of Akwa Ibom State in the past three years, I don’t think such persons can be in doubt as to whether this government has performed significantly well or not, except of course those who deliberately don’t want to see any positive thing about this administration,” he narrated.
Continuing he said: “Let us even begin with appreciation from outside the state, appreciation from the government at the center. This has been unprecedented for a state government which is in a party different from the party at the center.
“When President Buhari published his mid-term report, Akwa Ibom State under Governor Udom Emmanuel contributed the largest volume of content of that document. That’s unprecedented. The federal government has had also honoured Governor Emmanuel with integrity and national service award late last year.
“Add that to the fact that the Federal Ministry of Sports at various times has also recognised the state government for its contributions to the development of sports in the country.”
According to Udoh, all this clearly aligns with the Five-Point Agenda of the State Government: Job Creation, Wealth Creation, Poverty Alleviation, Infrastructural Consolidation, and Political and Economic Inclusion.
The Five-Point Agenda, he said, is anchored on a tripod which had on one leg, Industrialization, on the other leg, Tourism, and on the other leg, Agriculture.
Watch out for the full interview on Monday.
