Iranian Ambassador to Nigeria, Amb Morteza Rahimi Zarchi, bonding with an IDP child
The Iranian Ambassador to Nigeria, Amb. Morteza Rahimi Zarchi, on Friday, June 15, 2018, led dignitaries from the Iranian Embassy to celebrate this year’s Eid Al Fitr with Internally Displaced Persons at the Durumi, Area 1, Camp, Abuja. The event was organised in partnership with an NGO, Child Aid and Sponsorship Awareness Foundation.
Speaking with journalists at the camp, the Iranian Ambassador to Nigeria, Ambassador Zarchi said: “We are doing this as a Muslim country, more importantly, as human. These children at the IDP camp are our children, that is why we have partnered with CASAF to bring them clothes to wear and food to eat this Eid Al Fitr.”
Child Aid and Sponsorship Awareness Foundation (CASAF) representative, Temitiope Obitunwase, was emphatic that the organisation “remains one of Nigeria’s leading NGO that has consistently created awareness with the aim of providing sustainable solutions towards the plights of underprivileged children.” CASAF currently runs a free education Project for the Internally Displaced Children and rally support for orphans and less privileged children in the society.
The Iranian embassy in Nigeria pledged to sustain these efforts at the IDP camp and corporate with the Federal Government of Nigeria to beef up security and growth economic development in Nigeria. Amb Morteza Rahimi Zarchi recently signed a new deal that allows Iran to open some branches of Iranian universities in Nigeria and contribute significantly to fighting terrorism in Nigeria.
