A troubled Oando filling station located beside Alagbole Bridge in Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area of Lagos has been gutted by a late night fire.
Residents in the Odo Bus-Stop area of Alagbole, a town located in both Lagos and Ogun states in South-West Nigeria, woke up this morning to see the fuel station razed down.
News Express learnt that the fire first started around 11pm and that men of the fire service were called, arriving about 45 minutes later and battling the fire for hours before it was subdued. However, the station was up in flames again around 5:00 a.m. and was completely razed along with some vehicles trapped in the flooded road presently under reconstruction and expansion. It is not yet clear what caused the fire. The station has been contending with flooding since it went into business about three years ago, often closing down to allow the floods to abate before resuming business.
The flood caused by yesterday afternoon’s downpour reeks of fuel and the road has been temporarily closed to traffic.
