Man of history, President Barack Obama of the United States of America, yesterday wept publicly for the first time since he became the leader of the world’s most powerful country.
Addressing hundreds of his youthful staff inside his Chicago campaign headquarters a day after he won re-election, the Kenyan-born Obama, the first black man to rule the US, became emotional and shed tears.
A Yahoo! report says that Obama had “tears streaming down his face” when he told campaign staff and volunteers: “What you guys have accomplished will go on in the annals of history and they will read about it and they’ll marvel about it.”
“The most important thing you need to know is that your journey’s just beginning. You’re just starting. And whatever good we do over the next four years will pale in comparison to whatever you guys end up accomplishing in the years and years to come,” Obama added.
The emotional moment when Obama broke down and shed tears (see photo), captured by the Obama campaign’s cameras and posted online, “offers a rare glimpse at the president unplugged and emotional. During the first four years of his presidency, Obama has never been seen publicly crying,” says the report.
News Express recalls that Democrat Obama had on Wednesday morning made nonsense of predictions of a tight race between him and Republican challenger Mitt Romney, claiming a decisive victory to earn a fresh and final four-year mandate from American voters.
