Eid-El-Kabir: Okorocha tasks leaders on sacrifice

Imo State governor, Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha, has called on leaders at all levels to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice as demonstrated by Abraham in obedience to God Almighty.

Gov. Okorocha gave the advice when the Muslim Council in the state paid him a Sallah homage in the Government House, Owerri.
Okorocha’s media aide, Ebere Uzoukwa, quotes his principal as saying: “Sacrifice is the only way to please God in leadership. I am saying this because both Christians and Muslims today celebrate Abraham for offering his only son for sacrifice in obedience to God wish. Those of us in leadership position should be ready to forfeit things that give us comfort for the sake of others as this is one of the ways we can submit ourselves completely to the wish of God. I strongly believe that this spirit of sacrifice is most needed now that our country is facing several challenges.”
The governor further explained that much has been achieved by his administration by sacrifices his security vote and the comfort of the office of the governor.
Hear him: "Today, we are driving our commitment to the development of dear state through sacrifices so far made for the interest of our people. About 1,000 kilometres of roads are being completed with other infrastructural projects embarked upon to transform our state into a model state. Imo will be better by the time we are done with our programmes and we cannot achieve that without making sacrifices.”

Gov. Okorocha (shown in photo) commended the Muslim faithful in the state for their support and promised to work towards improving their welfare.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Alhaji Yusuf Nwoha, had commented the governor for the cordial relationship that has existed between the state government and Muslims in the state.
He explained that the visit was to demonstrate their loyalty to constituted authority and to urge the governor to continue the good he is already doing in the state.
