Empty boast: Donald Trump under fire for failing to release Obamas’ “divorce papers”

It was an empty boast afterall! Business mogul and political wannabe, Donald Trump has become an object of ridicule when he failed to release papers to prove that America’s first couple, Barack and Michelle Obama, had planned to divorce in 2000 when Barack was in the political valley.

As reported yesterday by News Express, Trump, a Republican Party sympathiser, had on Monday vowed to make an announcement yesterday that would be “bordering on gigantic” and that it would “possibly” change the presidential race in which Obama, the Democratic Party’s candidate, is favoured to win re-election on Nov. 6.

The billionaire told Fox & Friends that he had “something very, very big concerning the president of the United States,” saying: “It’s going to be very big. I know one thing – you will cover it in a very big fashion.”

Trump declined to elaborate, but the next day a respected financial pundit with links to the tycoon who appears on the same business talk show as him claimed to have more details. Douglas Kass, a Florida-based investor who appears on CNBC’s talkshow ‘Squawkbox’ where Trump is often a commentator, tweeted to his 48,000 followers: “High above the Alps my Gnome has heard that Donald Trump will announce that he has unearthed divorce papers between the Prez and his wife.”

But rather than drop a bombshell, all that Trump had to offer yesterday was an announcement that he would give “$5 million in exchange for Obama’s college records.”

This has outraged people over the world, who have been lampooning him. “I will pay him (Trump) 20buck to go get a haircut and have his head examined,” wrote a Nigerian, Mike Tunde Hubscrown Adewumi, on Facebook.

Another Nigerian, Wale Kazeem, wrote: “He (Trump) is mentally derailed. I say sorry!”

To Alphonsus A. Ogbaekwe, a US-based Nigerian, Trump is “in need of psychiatric help.” According to Ogbaekwe in a post to some Yahoo! Communities, “You know, this election has exposed American under belly. It is not funny, it is an insult for any hard working Africa American or any mix race kids out there out. Look, Obama did not only graduated from Harvard law school he was the first African American to be the president of Harvard law review.”

People elsewhere across the world have made similar comments in social networks.

“I will give $50 to the charity of Donald Trump’s choice if he stops trying to make this election about himself,” read a tweet from Sen. Barbara Boxer’s (D-Calif.) Twitter account. “Who’s with me?”

On his part, John Podhoretz, editor of Commentary magazine, tweeted “I will release my college transcripts and passport applications to Donald Trump in exchange for a $5 million contribution to Commentary.”
