BIM Leader Uwazuruike
The leader of the Biafra Independent Movement (BIM), Chief Ralph Uwazuruike will on Wednesday storm Onitsha, the commercial nerve centre of Anambra State, to celebrate 18 years of Biafra movement.
Uwazurike is expected to attend the rally with about three million members of BIM and the Movement for the Actualisation of the State of Biafra (MASSOB), according to his Personal Assistant who is alsoAnambra Central zonal coordinator of BIM, Comrade Emmanuel Omenka. He said that every arrangement towards the successful celebration had been put in place adding there would not be any sit-at-home order.
His words, “People are free to go on with their legitimate businesses but those who know the importance of this celebration are free to join us in the celebration. Some of us will wait for his (Uwazurike's) arrival at Amoka as he will be coming from Owerri, the Imo State capital, to accompany him into Onitsha. We pick Onitsha as the venue of the celebration because it is the heart of Igboland, even if Enugu is the headquarters of the Igbo nation” he stated.
“Our leader will also use the opportunity to tell the people in the state that the governorship election billed for November 18 this year will hold and that they should forget about threats from the Indigenous People of Biafra that it will not hold.
“MASSOB came into existence on the 13th day of September 1999, which is 18 years by September13,this year and we urge all lovers of freedom to join us in the celebration as we are non-violent in the struggle to actualise a sovereign state of Biafra.”
In his contribution, the BIM Director of Information, Mazi Chris Mocha said the day would be used to rekindle the heart of the electorate who felt that election would not hold in the state.
He added: “That day, all roads will lead to Onitsha as our members will be coming from other Igbo states and beyond to Onitsha. We urge the Igbo to join in the celebration.”
