INEC voter register
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has made the preliminary register of voters for the 2027 general elections available online, giving registered Nigerians an opportunity to verify their details ahead of the polls.
The online publication allows voters to check whether their names and photographs appear in the register and confirm that their registration details are correctly captured.
The register can be accessed through INEC’s dedicated portal at https://display.inecnigeria.org/.
The commission uploaded the preliminary list on Monday, October 26, following concerns over its availability online after the physical inspection exercise conducted nationwide from October 9 to 15.
INEC said the online platform was introduced to complement the physical display and make it easier for registered voters to inspect the list for their polling units.
How to check your details on INEC’s voter register
Registered voters can follow these steps to verify their information:
1. Visit INEC’s voter register portal
Open a browser on your phone or computer and visit https://display.inecnigeria.org/.
2. Sign in to the platform
Follow the instructions on the portal to sign in and gain access to the preliminary register.
3. Select your polling location
Choose your state, local government area, ward and polling unit to access the register for your voting location. You may also use your polling unit code where available.
4. Search for your name
Check the list displayed for your polling unit. The platform provides names and photographs of registered voters. You can use the alphabetical navigation to locate entries by surname.
5. Confirm your details
Ensure that your name and photograph are correctly displayed. Check the information carefully to identify missing names or any errors in your particulars.
Voters who discover errors or omissions should contact their nearest INEC office for guidance on the appropriate procedure for submitting a complaint or requesting clarification.
The online viewing portal is designed for inspecting the preliminary register. It does not allow users to edit their details, register as new voters, transfer their registration to another polling unit or replace a Permanent Voter Card.
INEC said it was processing claims and objections arising from the inspection exercise ahead of the certification and publication of the final register.
The commission has scheduled December 15, 2026, for the publication of the final register of voters.
Other INEC voter services
Registered voters who need to update their information, transfer their registration, replace a lost or damaged PVC or check their PVC collection centre can use INEC’s Continuous Voter Registration portal at https://cvr.inecnigeria.org/.
The portal provides access to these services, although the commission says the Continuous Voter Registration exercise is currently closed.
INEC has urged eligible voters to stay informed and follow its official channels for updates on the electoral process. (The Sun)
