Journalists have congregated at the Aguleri home of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate, Chief Willie Obiano, who is expected to make his victory speech immediately the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announces the final result of the governorship election in Anambra State.
Collation of the result of the supplementary governorship election held in the state today is almost concluded and INEC is expected t o declare a winner tonight.
An unconfirmed report has it that Obiano won Idemili North, which was touted as the stronghold of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Chris Ngige.
News Express reports that Obiano led the first round of voting on November 16 and 17 with 174,710 votes and secured 25% in 18 of the 21 local government areas of the state but was not declared winner because the margin of victory over second-placed Comrade Tony Nwoye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was less that the canceled votes.
Ngige, who came third during the election, vowed to boycott the supplementary ballot after attempts by his party to force INEC to cancel the election failed.
