Political Adviser to Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State, Chief Chinedu Obidigwe, onTuesdaydescribed as falsehood, the recent allegation of mismanagement of local government funds levelled against the state government by a member of the House of Representatives from the state, Dr. Tony Nwoye.
He said that Nwoye lacked the morality to make such allegation, saying that the APGA-led government was managing the resources of Anambra State prudently to the delight of Anambra people.
Obidigwe maintained that it was the APGA-led government in the state that successfully rebuilt the state after it was destroyed by hoodlums during the dark days of the state.
In his words, “Anambra has been transformed into a modern state under Obiano’s watch and the state’s ugly past is now a forgotten history, such that our state is comparable to few other fast- growing states in Nigeria. Our state is also rated as one of the economically viable states in the country.”
He observed that the democratic instinct in Governor Obiano manifested on his assumption of office in 2014, when he started working with elected local government chairmen and councillors, a situation that had not existed in the state since the return of the current democratic dispensation.
While recalling that the democratically elected local government Chairmen and councillors served out their tenure recently, the political adviser to the Governor urged Anambra people to disregard the orchestrated and politically motivated blackmail being hauled at Governor Obiano by political opponents, but to continue giving their unflinching support to his administration.
He further pointed out some of the Governor’s achievements since assumption of office to include entrenchment of the security of lives and property, creation of the enabling environment for businesses to thrive in the state, massive infrastructural development, attraction of over $3 billion investment to the state, massive job creation and increasing the state’s Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, from N500 million to N1.3 billion monthly.
It would be recalled that Nwoye, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a governorship aspirant, who represents Anambra East and West federal constituency at the National Assembly, had vowed in a recent interview, that his party would stop the financial recklessness of the APGA –led government by ensuring that APC wins this year’s governorship election.
