Victorious Joana Nwamerue celebrating with Nigerian flag after outpunching Jaica Green
By PETER ANOSIKE
Nigerian-Bulgarian boxer Joana Nwamerue has brought honour to Nigeria by defeating Jaica Green by a clear unanimous decision during the Boardwalk Brawl boxing event.
The highly anticipated lightweight matchup took place last Friday, October 30, 2026, at the Soundwaves Theatre inside the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA.
The 135-pound bout lived up to the hype, showcasing a classic battle of styles and grit over eight intense rounds.
Stepping into the ring with an unblemished record, Nwamerue, who had declared after her last training that she was in a killer mood, looked ready to protect her undefeated streak.
Fighting out of Las Vegas, Nevada, she brought her trademark power, physical strength, and a relentless pace.
Her opponent, New York’s seasoned and hard-punching veteran Jaica Green, aimed to derail Nwamerue’s momentum and pull off a major upset on the main card but to no avail.
From the opening bell, Nwamerue established tactical dominance by utilising her superior height and ring generalship.
While Green fought bravely and threw heavy counters, Nwamerue effectively controlled the tempo of the fight with sharp combinations and constant forward pressure.
As the rounds progressed into the later stages, Nwamerue's conditioning and relentless output began to break down Green's defensive guard.
When the final bell rang, the judges’ scoring reflected Nwamerue’s clear control throughout the matchup.
She secured the victory with official scorecards reading 78-74 twice and 79-73, leaving no doubt about the rightful winner.
The decisive unanimous decision victory officially extended Nwamerue's pristine professional record, ensuring she remains an elite and rising threat in the lightweight division.
With this impressive triumph under her belt, Nwamerue continues her steady ascent toward a potential world title shot.
The defeat drops Green to a 9-9-1 record, while the victorious Nwamerue shifts her focus to tracking down even bigger fights in the 135-pound division.
