Chairman of Zaki Local Government Area of Bauchi State, Masud Aliyu and the crash scene
The Chairman of Zaki Local Government Area of Bauchi State, Masud Aliyu, has died in a road accident while returning from an Allied Peoples Movement stakeholders’ meeting.
The accident occurred at Konkiyal Village in Darazo Local Government Area as Aliyu was travelling back to Zaki after the political meeting.
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, confirmed the death in a condolence message issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado.
The governor described Aliyu’s death as a painful loss to the state, particularly residents of Zaki Local Government Area.
He said the late chairman was a committed public servant and grassroots politician whose contributions to governance and community development would be remembered.
Before becoming Zaki council chairman, Aliyu served as Director-General of the Bauchi State Emergency Management Agency, where he was involved in emergency response, disaster management and humanitarian interventions.
Mohammed said that although Aliyu’s tenure as council chairman was relatively short, he demonstrated dedication to improving communities and addressing the welfare of his constituents.
The governor extended his condolences to the deceased’s family, the people of Zaki, the Katagum Emirate Council, the Bauchi State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria and his political associates.
He also prayed for Allah’s forgiveness and the repose of Aliyu’s soul.
The funeral prayer is scheduled to hold on Monday, November 2, at 2pm at the Palace of the District Head, Mur Mur, in Zaki Local Government Area. (The Sun)
