Prof Pantami
Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, a former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, has reacted to the omission of his name from the final list of candidates cleared for the 2027 governorship election in Gombe State.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) released the list on Saturday.
The name of the former minister who resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in May and defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was conspicuously missing.
In a statement shared on his personal social media handles, Pantami assured his supporters that efforts were underway to resolve the Issue, describing the omission as a temporary challenge in the electoral process.
In the statement signed by Professor Suleiman Mohammed Gombe, he said the development has reportedly raised questions among supporters of the PDP and the Pantamiyya Movement across Gombe and beyond.
He urged supporters to remain calm and hopeful, insisting that the omission did not represent a final determination of the matter.
“We are aware of the people working behind the scenes to frustrate good and responsible leadership in Gombe State,” the statement said.
According to the camp, its legal and liaison teams are engaging with relevant organs of the PDP and INEC to secure compliance with the court order and ensure that the omission is corrected within the period allowed by law.
The statement expressed confidence that the matter would be resolved, while urging supporters to continue mobilisation and remain committed to what it described as the movement’s ideology of service to humanity.
It added that the PDP and the Pantamiyya Movement remained united and committed to the political aspirations of their supporters in the state.
“No distraction will derail our course, in sha Allah,” the statement added.
The camp also called for continued support for its political cause, expressing optimism that the issue would be resolved. (Weekend Trust)
