The US Department of War has increased its reported casualties in the war against Iran, raising the number of American service members killed to 21 and the number wounded to 865 as of October 9.
According to the Pentagon’s online Defense Casualty Analysis System (DCAS), the number of US service members killed in the war has increased by two from the previous figures, while the number of wounded has risen by four.
Meanwhile, the US investigative news outlet The Intercept recently reported that the Department of War continues to withhold clarification on discrepancies in its casualty figures for the war against Iran. The report said the official figures do not provide a complete picture of the human toll on US forces.
According to The Intercept, the actual number of American service members killed and wounded since the war began in the region is higher than the figures recorded in the Pentagon’s official database.
The outlet had previously reported that hundreds of US military casualties were missing from the department’s official records. (WANA News Agency, excluding headline)
