APC Rep candidate, Dr Iyamu
APC candidate for Oredo Federal Constituency, Dr. Paddy Iyamu, has condemned the vandalisation of NDC candidate Hon. Uyi Omosigho’s campaign office and urged his supporters to remain peaceful and law-abiding.
Iyamu, in a statement, declared that the reported attack was carried out without his authorisation and did not reflect his values or approach to politics.
“I did not authorise it, I do not condone it, and it does not represent who I am or the kind of politics I believe in,” he said.
He urged political actors and their supporters to reject acts of violence, intimidation and destruction, stressing that elections should provide an opportunity for citizens to assess competing ideas, leadership capacity and commitment to service.
“Elections should be a contest of ideas, capacity, and service, not a theatre of hate or hostility,” Iyamu stated.
In a conciliatory gesture, Iyamu described Omosigho as “my brother, a fellow son of Oredo, and a stakeholder in the future we both seek to build.”
He appealed directly to his supporters to remain calm, peaceful and law-abiding, warning against any action that could further heighten political tensions in the constituency.
“Do not destroy or vandalise anyone’s property,” he urged.
Iyamu maintained that political differences should not undermine the bonds shared by people within the same community, calling on his supporters to channel their political energy into constructive engagement and democratic participation.
He concluded with a call for peaceful political expression, urging his supporters to remain steadfast in their convictions while respecting the democratic process.
“Stand firm for what we believe in and express it peacefully on the ballot,” Iyamu said. (The Sun)
