Edo Queens continued their impressive run at the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU B qualifying tournament, defeating defending champions ASEC Mimosas of Côte d’Ivoire 3-1.
The Nigerian champions took control of the Group B encounter with two first-half goals to record their second consecutive victory of the tournament in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
Oluwakemi Adegbuyi opened the scoring for Edo Queens in the 23rd minute before Dooshima Tarnum doubled the advantage shortly before halftime.
ASEC Mimosas pulled one back in the 83rd minute through Doudou Yeti, raising hopes of a late comeback for the Ivorian side.
However, Edo Queens sealed the victory in the 89th minute when Umejaku Oluebube found the back of the net to make it 3-1.
The victory takes Edo Queens to six points from two matches and puts them in a strong position to progress from Group B.
Edo Queens had opened their campaign with a convincing 7-0 victory over AS Garde Nationale of Niger.
The defeat leaves defending champions ASEC Mimosas with a difficult task in their bid to advance from the group.
Edo Queens FC will play Ampem Darkoa Ladies FC of Ghana on Sunday in their last group game.(NAN)
