The North East Executive Committee of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has lifted the suspension on the Adamawa State chairman of the Caretaker Committee of the party, Sadiq Ibrahim Dasin.

Recall that on Tuesday 18th August 2026 at a meeting of the party’s executive committee members and stakeholders, a decision was reached to suspend the state caretaker chairman, over alleged maladministration and misconduct which was communicated to the ADC’s National Secretariat and received on the 19th August, 2026.

The stand of the North East Executive Committee of the party was contained in a letter addressed to the embattled caretaker chairman, Sadiq Dasin dated 24th August, 2026.

In the letter signed by the National Vice Chairman of the party in charge of North East Zone, Mr.Daniel M.Bwala , the zonal committee acknowledged receipt of a petition against Dasin but said after a careful review of its contents, the committee found out that, due process wasn’t followed which negates provisions of the party’s constitution.

Meanwhile, the “factional” state executive committee under the leadership of Sai’du Naira has vehemently objected the reversing of the suspension insisting that the petition was never sent to the North East Zonal Executive Committee but to the National headquarters of the party.

Making its position public via a press statement issued in Yola Tuesday the state chapter under Naira’s faction called upon the North East leadership to identify the specific provision of the ADC constitution upon which it purports to nullify a decision taken by the competent state organ.

All efforts to speak to the caretaker chairman were unsuccessful as his verified phone number was switched off at the time of filing in this report. (Daily Trust)
