Governor Ademola Adeleke says his reelection is a “gesture of thank you” from the people of Osun for delivering the dividends of democracy. INEC declared the Accord Party candidate winner of the Osun governorship election after he polled 511,067 votes to defeat APC’s Munirudeen Oyebamiji who scored 444,815 votes. Adeleke won 20 of the 30 LGAs with a margin of 66,252 votes to secure a second term.

Speaking after his victory was announced, Adeleke dedicated the win to Osun voters who stood by him. “This is a victory for the people of Osun who have stood by me and acknowledged the work I have done. They recognise the dividends of democracy in Osun in terms of infrastructure, improved education, agriculture and much more,” he said.

“This win is simply a gesture of ‘thank you’. I will repay this gesture by ensuring the state moves from a civil-service state to a fully developed commercial state.” The governor said he expects a call from his rival, adding that the election was about progress, not division. “I expect the APC candidate, Mr. Oyebamiji, to call and congratulate me. There is no victor and no vanquished in Osun. President Tinubu has also called to congratulate me.”

The election recorded 1,016,188 accredited voters out of 2,354,028 registered voters. Adeleke’s biggest wins came from Osogbo with 36,480 votes, Ede North with 35,427 votes, and Ede South with 26,188 votes.

Oyebamiji’s strongest showings were in IREWOLE with 29,972 votes and OLORUNDA with 24,671 votes. With the mandate renewed, Adeleke says his second term will focus on expanding infrastructure, boosting commerce, and strengthening social services across Osun. (Text, excluding headline: AriseNews TV)
