The accident scene
A tipper veered off the road and crushed two brothers to death while they sat drinking palm wine with bush meat at a restaurant along the Erhuwaren highway at Kiagbodo town in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.
The victims, whose identities were yet to be known, had just inspected the site of an ongoing electrification project at the Technical College in Kiagbodo before they met their untimely death.
One of the victims was said to have bided and won the electrification contract of the budding college and invited his sibling to join him in executing the job.
An eyewitness, who simply identified himself as Enekorogha but traveled down to Asaba yesterday said: “After completing their inspection, the two settled down at the palm wine joint for a drink.
Suddenly, a tipper that was plying the route and fully loaded with sand, left the roadmark and rammed into them. “The occurrence shocked bystanders, who could not believe that the victims were dead.
They were confirmed dead at the Federal Medical Centre, Ovwian.” The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident but said details about their identities were still sketchy. The once-busy palm wine and smoked bush meat joint has been deserted by customers. (New Telegraph)
