Osun State Governor, Adeleke
…holds three-day security marathon
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on Tuesday disclosed that he had held three days of back-to-back security meetings aimed at preventing school kidnappings in the state.
According to a statement by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the meetings brought together formal security chiefs and informal groups, including local hunters, the Oodua Peoples Congress and Agbekoya.
“The meetings, which began two days ago with internal security reviews, advanced into consultations to align formal and informal networks to protect lives and property in the state,” he said.
The statement further explained that Adeleke first met representatives of local hunters, the OPC, Agbekoya and the Amotekun Corps, with the sessions designed to build a coalition of informal security structures to complement the police, DSS and other agencies.

“As part of statewide intelligence mapping, the governor has also received informal reports about areas of threats, likely hotspots and vulnerable border areas,” the statement said.
“On Tuesday afternoon, the formal State Security Council comprising all service commanders convened at the Governor’s Office in Osogbo.”
Also speaking, the Security Adviser to the Governor, Mr Samuel Ojo, said the meeting “firmed up pre-emptive security actions to stop any likely school kidnappings.”
“The details of the security strategy are being kept secret. But on behalf of Mr Governor, I want to assure our people that Osun is safe and secure,” Ojo said.
The move comes amid public concern over reports of abductions in parts of the country. The state government has repeatedly described recent kidnap alarms in Osun as false. (Nigerian Tribune)
