The Police command in Lagos State has arrested four suspected cultists and hitmen allegedly linked to a series of violent crimes and killings in Ajanmgbadi, Ojo and neighbouring communities.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Lagos.

Adebisi said the arrests were made as part of ongoing efforts to tackle cultism, violent crimes and other criminal activities across the state.

She said the suspects, aged between 22 and 39, were arrested at a hotel in Ajanmgbadi, Ojo Local Government Area, following credible intelligence.

According to her, preliminary investigations uncovered evidence linking the suspects to violent criminal activities in the area.

“Investigators recovered a video from one of the suspects’ mobile phones allegedly showing the killing of unidentified persons within Ajanmgbadi and neighbouring communities.

“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to being members of the Aiye Confraternity and admitted terrorising residents through a series of killings and other violent crimes,” she said.

Adebisi said further searches led to the recovery of two locally made pistols, one revolver and 13 live cartridges allegedly used in the crimes.

She said investigations were continuing to determine the suspects’ involvement in other crimes, identify additional gang members and apprehend their accomplices.

According to her, the suspects will be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Tijani, has commended the operatives for the successful operation.

The Commissioner of Police reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ridding the state of criminal elements.

Tijani urged residents to remain vigilant and provide timely, credible information to support public safety and security across the state. (NAN)
