There was palpable fear at Kelebe Community in Osogbo, capital of Osun State over a letter that was circulated in the area, by unknown people, notifying the residents of the community about a proposed visit by the armed robbers.
The letter which was written in Yoruba language had circulated widely in the community and some of the residents are apprehensive about the scheduled armed robbery attack.
A landlord hinted that some people have started relocating from the community because of the impending robbery attack.
The spokesperson of Kelebe Landlords Association, Mr Hakeem Bolarinwa, told journalists that the warning was real and called on police and other security agencies in the state to be proactive by setting up necessary security measures that would ensure the safety of residents of the area.
Speaking on the development, the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Fimihan Adeoye, assured that policemen would be deployed to the area. He advised the residents of Kelebe and the entire people of Osun State not to panic over the purported letter.
The CP, who spoke through the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Folasade Odoro, said police detectives would investigate the supposedly armed robbers’ notification letter.
