A chieftain of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Comr. Lucky O.O. Ukueku, has called on intending aspirants seeking to contest under the party to declare their interest, noting that the primary elections are fast approaching.

In a statement issued in Ughelli on Tuesday, Comr. Ukueku said the electorate is no longer voting based on party affiliation alone but on the integrity of individual candidates. He stated that the SDP remains committed to providing its platform to persons of proven integrity.

According to him, the party’s nomination forms remain affordable, unlike other political parties where some aspirants incur huge debts to secure tickets. He noted that such financial burdens often distract elected officials from delivering projects and attending to the needs of their constituencies after elections.

Comr. Ukueku described the SDP as one of Nigeria’s oldest political parties with a record of zero tolerance for corrupt practices. He added that the party remains united, with no factions, under the national leadership of Sen. Prof. Sadiq Gombe and Hon. Felix Obuseh as Delta State Chairman.

He encouraged all SDP members in Delta State to remain steadfast and committed to the ideals of the party, expressing confidence that the SDP will provide quality leadership in Nigeria and Delta State.
