The Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji, says it will commence its final outdoor field training exercise, codenamed Exercise Ubiak-Isin, for students of Junior Course 101 of 2026.
A statement issued on Wednesday by the college Public Relations Officer, Maj. Emmanuel Onoja, said the exercise would hold from May 18 to May 22 within the Labar-Dunki and Wazata axis of Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Onoja said the exercise was designed to assess the student officers’ leadership qualities, physical fitness, command and control capabilities, as well as their application of tactical knowledge.
According to him, participants will also be tested in unconventional warfare, counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations in line with prevailing security challenges.
He urged residents of communities around the exercise areas not to panic over the movement of military personnel, vehicles and equipment, including sounds from explosives and small arms fire during the exercise period.
The spokesman said adequate safety and security measures had been put in place, advising members of the public to keep away from the immediate exercise locations.
He, however, encouraged residents in the affected communities to continue with their normal daily activities and report any security breach to the nearest authorities.
Onoja appealed for the understanding and cooperation of residents and Nigerians in general, stressing that the exercise was part of efforts to train military leaders for the nation’s Armed Forces. (NAN)
