Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara was guest yesterday to Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike, who is the Rainbow Coalition leader in the South-South state.

It was gathered that Fubara was accompanied by an elder statesman, Dr. Sam Sam Jaja, during the visit to his immediate predecessor in office.

The governor and his team were received by the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship flag-bearer in the state, Kingsley Chinda and the Chairman of the Reconciliation Committee, Senator Magnus Abe.

Though there was no official briefing on what the parties discussed, sources said that talks bothered on ongoing ‘fragile peace deal’ in the state.

There were reports that the refusal of the governor to accept some conditions stipulated by the committee brought a setback to the peace.

Sources said the stalemate was the reason why the House of Assembly had refused to consider and passage of the 2026 Appropriation Bill about two months after it was presented by the governor.

The Minister’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, confirmed the visit in his verified Facebook page. He said Fubara visited Wike in his Port Harcourt residence yesterday evening.

He said: “Fubara, who was accompanied by Dr. Sam Sam Jaja, was received by the APC governorship candidate in Rivers State, Kingsley Chinda and Senator Magnus Abe.” (The Nation)
