Top tax administrators and leading economists in Nigeria would rigorously examine Nigeria’s recent tax reforms at an annual tax conference, with a sharp focus on aligning policy with global standards, boosting competitiveness, and unlocking stronger economic positioning on the world stage.
Put together by Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria(CITN), the 28th discourse themed: ‘Tax Reforms and Global Relevance: Positioning Nigeria’s Tax System for a Sustainable Future’ the confab would see tax professionals, policy makers, state governors, the academics and stakeholders engaging deeply on how taxation could be better addressed to drive inclusive development in Nigeria.
Slated for May 11 to 15 of May, at the Bola-Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja, the president of the Institute, Innocent Ohagwa, while addressing journalists in Lagos, said the annual Tax conference holds profound significance, particularly in the context of Nigerian ongoing tax reforms. “In alignment with these reforms, this year’s conference is thoughtfully aimed to examine the current tax reforms and how they position Nigeria for global relevance”
Ohagwa assured that professionals drawn across board would do justice to the theme and sub- themes conscientiously to give Nigerians a reason to comply with tax laws and regulations.
“The first day is slated for registration and prayers while president Ahmed Bola Tinubu would declare the conference open on the second day. There will be a varieties of sidelines events that would make the event worthwhile”
CITN boss affirmed that the Minister of Finance, State, Taiwo Ayodele, Zacch Adedeji, Executive Chairman of Nigerian Revenue Service, would grace the occasion, as well as the Minister of federal capital territory, Nyesom Wike, for a deep cross-pollination and fertilization of ideas.
Governors of Lagos, Imo, Bornu, Ondo, Nasarawa, Jigwa, former governor of Bayelsa State, the royal father of Ibadanland, and Ikewere, among others would make it to the session. Registrations for the Conference are ongoing @ www.citnevents.org, for both members and non- members.
Similarly, Chairman of the planning committee, Caroline Ndubuisi said the event would feature plenary sections: “We shall have sub-themes, ‘From Blueprint to Reality, evaluating the early outcomes of Nigerian 2025 tax reforms; taxation, business competitiveness, investment climate: Aligning fiscal reforms with enterprise goods.
“Others are: Transforming Nigerian tax administration for efficiency and trust in the new fiscal order. There will be sub-national fiscal governance and revenue autonomy: strengthening states and local revenue systems under the JRB Act 2025, as well as exhibitions, mental health and productivity sessions as part of the side attraction,” she added.
