Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have intercepted 490 grams of suspected cocaine and 4 grams of cannabis concealed in energy-saving bulbs.

Police spokesman Bright Edafe said in a statement on Wednesday that the drugs were discovered on April 13, 2026, by Safer Highway Patrol officers along the Onicha-Ugbo/Ewohimi Road.

The operatives also separately recovered a pump-action gun linked to a murder and cultism case.

He said the substances were hidden inside electric bulbs in a Sienna bus heading North.

Edafe said the driver, Osuke Stephen, 47, was arrested, while preliminary investigations indicated the drugs were being transported to Abuja. He said efforts are ongoing to arrest other suspects connected to the shipment.

The spokesman said that later that day, operatives of the CP Special Assignment Team recovered a pump-action gun with three live cartridges abandoned in the Ekigbo area of Ughelli.

He said the firearm was linked to the January 15, 2026, murder of Alex Adanike.

He indicated that three suspects had already been arrested and remanded in custody.

He identified a fleeing suspect, Eddy Onose, as previously possessing the weapon.

The suspect is also alleged to be affiliated with the Supreme Vikings Confraternity.

Edafe said Onose remains at large, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend him.

The Commissioner of Police in Delta State, Mr. Yemi Oyeniyi, said the command would sustain intelligence-led operations targeting criminal networks.
