United States President, Donald Trump, has called on several major global powers, including China and France, to deploy warships alongside the United States to ensure that the Strait of Hormuz remains open and secure amid rising tensions with Iran.

In a message posted on social media, Trump said countries affected by Iran’s attempted disruption of the strategic waterway should send naval vessels to the area in coordination with the US to keep the strait open and safe for global shipping.

He stated that the United States had already destroyed what he described as the entirety of Iran’s military capability but warned that the country could still attempt limited attacks in the waterway using drones, mines or short-range missiles.

Trump also expressed hope that China, France, Japan, South Korea and the United Kingdom, among others affected by the situation, would deploy ships to the area to ensure the strait no longer poses a threat to international navigation.

According to him, the US would in the meantime continue military actions along the shoreline and target Iranian boats and ships in the water as part of efforts to secure the passage.

He wrote, “Many Countries, especially those who are affected by Iran’s attempted closure of the Hormuz Strait, will be sending War Ships, in conjunction with the United States of America, to keep the Strait open and safe. We have already destroyed 100% of Iran’s Military capability, but it’s easy for them to send a drone or two, drop a mine, or deliver a close range missile somewhere along, or in, this Waterway, no matter how badly defeated they are. Hopefully China, France, Japan, South Korea, the UK, and others, that are affected by this artificial constraint, will send Ships to the area so that the Hormuz Strait will no longer be a threat by a Nation that has been totally decapitated. In the meantime, the United States will be bombing the hell out of the shoreline, and continually shooting Iranian Boats and Ships out of the water. One way or the other, we will soon get the Hormuz Strait OPEN, SAFE, and FREE!”
