The Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has assured of imminent massive rural infrastructural development in the state.

According to him, in this regard, work would soon start on the construction of roads in all the Local Government and Local Council Development Areas.

Amosun gave the assurance while speaking at the inauguration of the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle as the new chairman of the Ogun State Council of Obas at the Oba’s Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, yesterday.

The governor stated that the government is committed to delivering the dividends of democracy to all the nooks and crannies of the state.

Expressing gratitude for the laudable roles played by traditional rulers to achieve the creation of the 37 additional LCDAS, he said: “Undoubtedly, the democratic dispensation that has been extended to the grassroots has great potentials to propel the economic and industrial development of the state, and invariably benefit entire strata of people of our dear state.

“Our royal fathers should endeavour to be in the vanguard of preparing our people to tap into these benefits in a way that assures the positive transformation of our communities and enhances the position of Ogun State as a model state in the federation.”

Describing traditional rulers as the stimulus for socio-economic development of their various communities, he said their roles as principal agents for social mobilisation, community development and effective governance at the grassroots are undeniable.

The governor said the inauguration is part of his government’s “continued reverence to this institution and efforts to genuinely harness the potentials of our Obaship institution towards bringing the dividends of democracy closer to our people.”

“This, we will continue to do by according our Kabiyesis the respect they deserve and providing them a suitable platform to exercise their defined roles,” he stressed.

Amosun also hinted that the Federal Government is already in collaboration with the state to cultivate at least a thousand hectares of land across the state with different crops and farming activities, which would generate at least 500,000 employment.

The governor reassured workers in the state of his administration’s commitment to their welfare and called for a little more patience with his government.
