The Lagos Bus Services Limited (LBSL), one of the mass transit transport companies in the state, on Tuesday confirmed a fire incident involving one of its buses on the Third Mainland Bridge.
The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of LBSL, Mr Idowu Oguntona, confirmed the fire incident in a statement made available to journalists on Tuesday in Lagos.
The statement was signed by Mr Afolabi Olawale, Public Affairs Officer, LBSL.
Oguntona said that the incident, which occurred at 1:00p.m. on the Obalende to Oshodi route recorded no loss of life.
“It involved a bus with code number 240057. Despite the prompt response of good samaritans, and emergency responders, the vehicle was unfortunately consumed by fire.
“We are relieved to confirm that there was no casualty or injury as a result of this incident,” he said.
Oguntona said that the safety of its passengers was the organisation’s utmost priority, and they would take this incident very seriously.
“A comprehensive investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire, and we will take all necessary steps to prevent future occurrences.
“We extend our sincere appreciation to the brave individuals, including the Commissioner for Transportation Lagos State, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi, who assisted during the incident.
“We will provide updates on the investigation’s findings and any subsequent actions,” he said.
Oguntona said that LBSL remained committed to delivering safe, reliable, and comfortable transportation services to the people of Lagos. (NAN)
