Troops of the Nigerian Army
Troops of the Nigerian Army under the Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace, have raided a kidnappers’ hideout in Jagindi Kagom village, in Jemaa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing one suspected kidnapper during the operation.
According to a post by the Acting Military Information Officer, Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace, Captain Joshua John, via the Nigerian Army’s X handle on Saturday, the operation, conducted on January 2, 2026, was carried out under Operation Peace Shield following credible intelligence on the activities of kidnappers in the area. Troops from Sector 7 launched an offensive clearance operation on the identified hideout, where they engaged the criminals in a gun battle.
“During the encounter, one of the suspects was neutralised. He was later identified as Dahiru Adamu Barka, while other members of the criminal gang escaped into the surrounding areas,” the post read.
Military sources disclosed that troops are currently conducting follow-up operations and tracking the fleeing suspects to ensure their arrest and prevent further criminal activities in the area.
“Sector 7 troops are currently tracking the remaining criminal elements to ensure they face the full wrath of the law,” the post added.
Commending the troops for the successful operation, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander, Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace, Major General EF Oyinlola, praised their professionalism and dedication to duty.
He reaffirmed the military’s commitment to eliminating all forms of criminality within the Joint Operations Area.
The commander also called on residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could aid ongoing operations.
The Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace assured the public that sustained pressure will be maintained on criminal elements to ensure the safety and security of law-abiding citizens across Kaduna State and the wider Joint Operations Area.
