
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET) has made the following predictions about Nigerian weather condition for today, October 1, 2016 – which happens to be Nigeria’s 56th Independence Day:
NORTHERN STATES: Cloudy to partly cloudy conditions are expected over the region in the morning hours. Thundery activities are not unlikely in few places around the axis later in the day. Maximum temperatures for the day are expected to be in the range of 32 – 37°C.
CENTRAL STATES: The area is expected to be cloudy with chances of early morning isolated thunderstorms over Abuja, Jos, Jalingo, Makurdi, Mambilla and its environs. There are also prospects of localised thunderstorms over the high ground areas of the central cities including Abuja in the afternoon/evening hours. Maximum temperatures for the day are expected to be in the range of 27 – 33°C.
SOUTHERN STATES: The region will experience increased cloudiness in the morning with probability of localised rains over Lagos, Port Harcourt, Calabar and Enugu. Localised thunderstorms/rain showers are not unlikely over the inland and coastal cities such as Delta, Bayelsa and Lagos including Benin, Akure, Ibadan, Owerri and Awka during the afternoon/evening hours. Maximum temperatures for the day are expected to be in the range of 28 – 32°C.
