
The Rector of Fr. Tansi Major seminary located in Onitsha, Anambra State, Fr. Emmanuel Dim, who was earlier kidnapped while on his way back from a condolence at Nsukka in neighbouring Enugu State, has been released. The news of his release filtered into town on Wednesday night.
News Expresscould not confirm if the N2.5 million ransom demanded by his abductors was paid. The Catholic Bishops Conference had given a directive that no ransom be paid.
Meanwhile, the second priest who was in the car at the time of attack but managed to escape with gunshot wounds is presently managing his wounds in Awka. On his part, Fr. Jude Chukwuneke, the Chaplain of St Camillus de Hellis Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Nnewi, who was shot in the head, is currently receiving treatment at the institution’s teaching hospital in Nnewi.
Calls put across to the State Commissioner of Police Sam Okaula who had earlier confirmed the kidnap to ascertain the release did not go through.
