ADC Chieftain, Akuma
By PETER ANOSIKE
A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Nelson Ahamefula Akuma, has expressed delight over the news making the rounds that the former presidential candidate of Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election, Peter Obi had concluded arrangements to join the African Democratic Party.
Speaking while reacting to the development, a highly elated Akuma said that Obi joining the party would be a turning point in the bid to ensure that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should not stay in the office beyond May 2027.
According to him, he had been among the first people to begin the call for Peter Obi and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to come together and stop the country from further slipping into abyss.
He said that anywhere In the world where an incumbent was defeated, it was done through the coming together of the heavy weights in the opposition parties.
Speaking further, he said that the news that Peter Obi is going to join ADC brought hope and joy to the Nigerian masses who had been expressing fear that Atiku and Obi might work separately and hand victory to Tinubu in 2027.
“As far as I am concerned, the news that Peter Obi has concluded arrangements to join African Democratic Congress is the best Christmas gift for the Nigerian people who have being impoverished by the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration. It is a sign that the light at the end of the tunnel is now brighter. I have being an advocate t of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi coming together to dislodge Bola Ahmed Tinubu from Aso Rock, because a saying has it that united we stand and divided we fall. Nigerian masses don’t want a repeat of what happened in 2023 when they worked separately. I am sure that the news must have sent shock waves to the camp of the ruling party that has being doing everything to ensure that Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar would not work together.”
He noted that with the news of Obi joining ADC, the prediction that Bola Tinubu would become a one-term president has become a reality.
Akuma urged Peter Obi supporters who have being waiting for direction to start registering in ADC, since the coast has no’ become very clear of where he is headed.
According to him, the Nigerian masses have not benefitted any single thing from the Tinubu administration since it came on board more than two years ago.
He said Nigerians were told that the money saved from the removal of subsidy would be channeled to infrastructure development but the government has made borrowing a habit, thereby subjecting even our unborn generations into debt.
He added that becausee of bad roads, those who are travelling to the southeast from southwest are spending days on the road.
According to him, there is no way Nigerians would continue to live in penury in the midst of plenty, adding that the reason is because we have a government that has no empathy and compassion on the masses.
