Zamfara Government stops 17 emirs from medical check-up: Report

Tension griped 17 Zamfara Emirate councils as Emirs were allegedly denied their annual medical check-up by the state government under the leadership of Governor Abdulaziz Yari for more than three years back.

An anonymous closed to the state chieftaincy affairs directorate told Blueprint that several applications was sent to the directorate by the emirs seeking for their annual medical check-up from 2012 to date, but the governor allegedly denied them approval.
The source told our reporter that series attempts made to convince the governor to acknowledge their predicaments was in vain.
“It is well known fact that all the administrative duties in our agencies, directorates and ministries here in Zamfara, lack good management due to lack of logistic, particularly, their monthly cash allocation in which the governor refused to listen,” the source revealed.
Our finding further disclosed that some of the emirs were now suffering from some sicknesses, especially blood pressure and diabetes.
“Majority of our emirs are handicapped as all their logistics support through which they are entitled from the state government has been stopped for some reason known to the governor,” a source said.
