The Nigerian Army says troops of 13 Brigade of its 82 Division have arrested a high ranking militant kingpin, Mr. Victory Benjamin (a.k.a Abuja Daddy and G3) and three others.
The kingpin was, according to a statement issued on Saturday by Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, arrested at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Ikot Ene junction, Akpabuyo Local Government Area of Cross Rivers State in a coordinated operation while attempting to collect ransom from one of their kidnap victims’ relations.
In a related development, troops of the same formation also arrested three militants with locally made pistol and some cartridges while they were robbing victims around Refugees Camp at Efut Isigi in Bakassi Local Government Area of the state.
Usman also disclosed that troops have cordoned off the residence of the most wanted militant kingpin, Alias G1, who is still at large. “Already, the arrested militants known as ‘G2 and ‘G3’ are providing useful information that would assist the military to track other criminals in the region,” Usman said.
