A 55-year-old woman in Udaipur gave birth to her 17th child on Tuesday. The woman, Rekha Galbelia, had previously given birth to 16 children. However, her four sons and one daughter died soon after birth. Out of her surviving children, five are married and already have children of their own.

Her daughter, Shila Kalbeliya, expressed the family’s struggles. “We all had to face a lot of difficulties. Everyone is shocked to hear that our mother has so many children,” she said.

Rekha’s husband, Kavra Kalbeliya, highlighted the family’s financial hardships. He said they do not have a house of their own and struggle to make ends meet. “To feed our children, I had to borrow money from moneylenders at 20 percent interest. I have repaid lakhs of rupees, but the loan interest is still not fully paid,” he said. (India Today)
